A Guide to become Deliveroo Rider
Some of the basic stuff you need get it sorted before you start working as deliveroo driver. It would help you with any teething problems that i have faced.
Application Process
- Apply Online using this link https://roo.it/TA95291 , and you will get £50 extra on first invoice
Once applied they will let you know if there is enough space to take on more rider at that point of time. If it is full, keep applying once a week and you will get in. That’s what I had to do (applied 4-5 times)
Once you get confirmation, they will ask you to complete online learning lessons. They are super easy, just watching video and read script and you will be good. Once done they will ask you to fill an online multi step form, which would roughly require:
- Passport or identity to prove write to work
- Proof of address
- NI number
- Bank A/c no and Sort code
- Home address
- Next to kin detail
After completing this, they will do Criminal/identity check on your application. Once passed, you will be invited for a tester session.
Tester session got 2 part
- you will be riding with a instructor on couple of address. Pretty simple no brainer. Just give hand indication when turning left right.
- You will need to complete the application: signing docs, singup and onboarding quick session
You will be given a login detail for Rider app, which you will be able to download from the link they will provide.
You will have a chance to pickup what area you want to work. Usually you get 2-3 choices depending on how busy they are.
Hourly rate is £7 plus £1 per delivery.
Finally you will be given following kit. You will be charged £150 (refundable) from your pay (£50 or £75 from each invoice).
- Backpack or cycle mount- your choice (I would suggest to choose backpack.) cycle mount is shaky, make you slow, difficult to go between narrow car spaces.
- Phone mount. (make sure to check mount and phone holder connect securely. I had difficult time on first day as it was faulty)
- Front and back light
- Helmet
- Waterproof trouser
- Waterproof jacket
- T-shirt
- Cycling jersey
- Phone battery pack (for charging- you need it if you going to do more than 3 hours)
On top of that you need following:
- A Bike (obviously)
- An extra tube
- Puncture repair kit (you can buy from amazon for £4
- A good lock – quite important
Good luck and Have a safe ride
